Biography

James has over 25 years experience of being a musician and over this time has gained a wide range of experience in music and sound recording technology. James began with traditional classical piano lessons at age 6 and by age 10 was exploring, composing music and recording. By his early teens he was proficient with Moog and other analogue synthesisers and playing keyboards in several school bands - music was now an 'essential' part of life. Now working in the 'digital world', James has experience of composing music for film and video and has a Diploma in Media Composition. Although Piano/Keyboards is James' main instrument, for recording he also plays guitar, bass guitar, violin, percussion/drums and 'duduk'. For live work James plays keyboards .

James is a skilled and creative sound designer, having an extensive knowledge of location sound recording, audio editing and creation of sound effects for video. Having a particular interest in Wildlife film-making James has undertaken world class training in wildlife sound recording, camera work and video editing. Work for his company Helical Blue has included music composition and sound design for wildlife film.

James' passion and enthusiasm, for music, sound and science, has sparked the sharing of his experience and knowledge through this Music and Sound tuition.
